Teaching Routines to Children Who Have ASD
Autism is fast becoming an epidemic among American children, with current reports estimating that 1 in 50 children carry an ASD diagnosis. Parents of children with autism need evidence-based techniques that will allow them to work with their children to build positive behaviors and successful home routines. This program teaches parents the ABC Method (Antecedent-Behavior-Consequence) in teaching basic skills to children. Using video, interactive checklists and action plans this program trains parents and caregivers todevelop and implement an individualized teaching plan to teach children new skills and manage their challenging behaviors.
Teaching Routines to Children Who Have ASD is an interactive, multimedia skills-based curriculum that guides parents through the process of learning how to create, implement and modify self-care instructional routines. Topics include:
• Learning the ABCs of Behavior
• Task Analysis
• Positive Consequences
• Steps for Successful Plan Implementation
The program consists of 9 modules which use realistic video vignettes, interactive practice exercises and printable resources. Once parents learn to successfully use these strategies, they will be equipped to teach their children behaviors and skills that will help them succeed at home and in other important settings such as school and community. These skills are essential to a child’s independent functioning. Total video runtime: 94 minutes.
